Mr. McLeod is a founding partner of the fi rm
with substantial trial experience. He specializes
in counseling and defending Fortune 500
companies in the oil, chemical, and engineering
industries in complex commercial and tort
litigation involving products and premises liability
claims. In over 30 years of practice, Mr.
McLeod has defended suits brought by plaintiffs
involving claims of alleged birth defects,
cancers, burns, pulmonary abnormalities and neuromuscular defi ciencies. In
addition, he also has handled claims involving actual or suspected insurance
fraud and has been involved in the prosecution of plaintiffs’ cases involving signifi
cant injury and death. Mr. McLeod began practicing as a Deputy District
Attorney in the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office.
Representative Matters
Toxic Tort
Mr. McLeod currently leads a team involved in litigating a variety of complex toxic tort matters.
Mr. McLeod’s team successfully litigated mass tort litigation involving claims of birth defects caused by pesticide. His team also successfully defended class action and individual claims of approximately 7,500 individuals claiming personal injury and property damages resulting from a chemical fire at a sulfuric acid regeneration facility.
 Asbestos
For over 30 years, Mr. McLeod has headed a team that has defended many different
companies in products and premises claims. He has successfully tried cases
to defense verdicts.
 Benzene
Mr. McLeod has represented chemical industry clients in defending benzene-related
personal injury claims.
Commercial
Mr. McLeod handles a number of significant commercial matters involving oil refinery property damage claims from both a defense and a plaintiff’s perspective.
Commercial Design Claims
Mr. McLeod defends the interests of a designer of refineries and refinery units
involving claims of negligent design.
Fraud
Mr. McLeod has also been involved in the investigation and defense of insurance
fraud claims.
