In Brief
Oliver Dunlap is a civil litigator with extensive experience in a broad range of complex matters, including pharmaceutical products liability, general commercial litigation, toxic torts and environmental defense, intellectual property, securities and internal investigations, international human and civil rights, and wine law. Mr. Dunlap has regularly represented Fortune 500 and 1000 companies and industry leaders, as well as mid-sized corporations and start-ups, always with an eye to both his clients’ litigation and business goals.
Representative Matters
 Pharmaceutical – Products Liability
Mr. Dunlap acts as counsel for AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP and Zeneca Pharmaceutical Products in several product liability cases in state and federal courts. As part of a national litigation team, he has successfully removed over 70 cases, involving close to 1000 plaintiffs from across the country, while obtaining early dismissal in the majority of the actions.
 Commercial Litigation
Mr. Dunlap represents WaferGen Communication, Inc. in various commercial matters, including most recently the successfully opposition of a writ of attachment. He has represented clients in cases concerning California’s Unfair Business Practices Code (§17200), contract disputes and allegations of fraud and tortuous interference, as well as provided general counsel concerning issues of litigation strategy and e-discovery management.
 Toxic Tort & Environmental
Mr. Dunlap acts as counsel for The Dow Chemical Company as part of the Filice Brown Eassa & McLeod team in several complex perchloroethylene (“PCE”) cases involving claims by private and public entities of groundwater contamination. He has also defended several firm clients in products and premises asbestos-related claims.
 Intellectual Property
Mr. Dunlap has represented leading high-technology, electronics and life-science corporations in patent infringement, trade secret, and design patent, trade dress and trade mark litigation before U.S. District Courts, the Federal Circuit, I.T.C., U.S.P.T.O. and various international bodies. As local counsel he has assisted in coordinating massive international patent litigations in the lithography, smart card and pharmaceuticals industries. He also has acted as lead counsel in more discrete matters for leading retailers and foreign manufacturers, frequently negotiating early resolutions to matters for his clients.
 Internal Investigations and Securities
Mr. Dunlap has provided counsel to Fortune 500 and 1000 companies in connection with both formal and informal government investigations. He has lead internal investigations in areas related to A.G. investigations of the insurance industry and backdating allegations, S.E.C. investigations of insider trading claims, and private party actions for securities law violations. He has also assisted in related presentations to corporate governance bodies, as well as successful negotiations with the S.E.C. and other governmental agencies.
 International Human Rights – Alien
 Tort Statute
Mr. Dunlap has defended several leading extraction companies in Alien Tort Statute actions brought by foreign plaintiffs and governmental entities. He has also litigated issues of individual and corporate liability for violations of international law through his work with the United Nations and various NGOs.
 Wine Industry
Mr. Dunlap has represented collectors, auction houses and vendors in efforts to address sales of counterfeit old and rare wines. In doing so, he has successfully resolved a multi-million dollar dispute, traced known fakes to their sources, and assisted in Federal investigation of the industry.
